The tank has to slip back before it can come up - there are two rubber mounts at the front in slots welded to the inside of the tank - wiggle it left and right and draw it back towards where the seat is normally - then lift if up and away,
This takes a bit of juggling - and care - it is easy to scratch the paint - at the same time it is coming back - you need to keep the fuel tap end level - and slightly rising - the fuel lines will come off fairly easily -
If it is tight - just keep working it slowly backwards
